Just bought this mini Keyboard off of Ebay and I must say that I am quite happy with it. It is from China. I will find the seller and put it into this post. The laptop is a Acer Aspire One Netbook, which has a very small keyboard. If you look closely, you will see that the white keyboard has fat keys. These keys are very fat, with a bigger area than the regular keyboard, making it a delight to use. The keys on the Acer give me a headache, as I have stated earlier on this blog. It looks to be a good deal, and was pretty cheap, about $20 shipped if I recall correctly. Good deal, works great! There are others that say that the Acer cannot use a USB keyboard unless it is special, but that is no probem, at least with this model. It is the Aspire 150 model, 10.1″ with the 160GB hard drive. The keys rebound well, and it is a pleasure to use. You just stick it into the USB port on the side of the computer. It is small, but not so small that you cannot use it comfortably. It actually has some advantage over even a big keyboard, with it’s wide fat keys.
The keys are chunky, fat and wide, just look at the picture. On this machine I also put a NEW Acer Keyboard bought from Ebay for $12. I like this easy solution better. That keyboard was hard to replace, and I think I messed up the touchpad ‘cos it no longer works. But hey, I never used it anyways, just used a mouse, a mini mouse on it. The Ebay shop that I bought it from was called GigaCity. This keyboard is WORTH it. You can get a regular keyboard for $5, but on the road these take up space. I just carry my netbook around in one my totes..and this fits right in.
This might give you a idea of the size. The Acer Aspire Netbook that it is being used with is very small. I like it a lot. A vast improvment over the native Acer Keyboard, at least for serious writing. I use my Netbook while on the road in my semi truck, at the truck stop WIFI hotspots. Sitting on the truck steering wheel and balanced, it is hard to navigate those tiny keys. This really is a plug for that guy on ebay.. I think this is a great product. There are some very small keypads available from the chinese sellers. Some of them not much larger than a dollar bill, but this is kind of overkill, except for maybe a specialized type of application, where writing speed and comfort is not the first priority. Love it.
The keyboard is 11″ long, that is a simple way to put it. As long as a standard piece of paper. Has LED’s that light up for caps lock, but no keypad for numbers.
For the Netbook user, it’s really a great gadget. The USB keyboard adds a dimension to using a Netbook.
